Microsoft 365 Alternative: Nextcloud Hosting
Stop paying for vendor lock-in. Replace Microsoft 365 piece by piece: swap OneDrive for Files, Teams for Talk, Word/Excel for Office, and Outlook for Groupware. Same features. Lower cost. Your data stays home.
Why Switch to Nextcloud?
Nextcloud is the open-source microsoft 365 alternative that undercuts SaaS without the complexity.
Cost Advantage: Save €1,200+/Year
As a microsoft 365 alternative, Nextcloud Standard costs €71.29 per user per year (€6.50/month). Microsoft 365 Business Basic is $7/month (post-July 2026). For a 10-person team, that's €1,200+ in annual savings. No surprise price hikes. You control your platform, not Microsoft.
Data Stays in the EU
Your files live in GDPR-compliant German data centers. No US cloud. No forced Copilot AI training on your content. Opsily handles backups, SSL certificates, and 24/7 monitoring.
No Vendor Lock-In
Nextcloud is open-source (37.3K stars on GitHub). Export your files, email, and calendars anytime using standard protocols (CalDAV, IMAP, WebDAV). Switch hosting, self-host, or migrate elsewhere. You own your data.
Built for teams who need reliability
Why Teams Are Ditching Microsoft 365
Microsoft just raised prices again. Business Basic jumped to $7/month (from $6 in July 2026). Business Standard climbed to $14. No choice but to pay more.
Worse: Copilot is now forced into Microsoft 365. Your data trains Big Tech AI models. You cannot opt out.
And you are locked in. Want to switch email providers? Export your Outlook contacts to where? Stuck. Want to move files off OneDrive? Standards compliance is minimal. You are married to Microsoft.
Open-source alternatives exist. LibreOffice saw 1 million downloads in the first week of its latest release, no forced AI, transparent code. Swiss and German governments are piloting open-source cloud suites to replace Microsoft entirely.
The real question is not "What is the best Microsoft 365 alternative?" It is "Why am I still paying for vendor lock-in?"
